Press Calculate to see the result.

The practice box runs in your browser with BDK’s own calculator, which covers about 60 common functions. Cell references work as in Excel (B2, B2:B9). Your formulas are not saved or sent anywhere. For anything unusual, check the result in Excel itself.

How people use CONCAT at work

  • Administration

Build a label from two columns.

    =A2&" "&B2A-100 Hinge 40 mm
    Data: Stock levels (fictional)
  • HR

Make a name and team label.

    =CONCAT(A3," (",B3,")")Ben Carter (Sales)
    Data: Team list (fictional)

Common mistakes and tips

  • CONCAT does not add spaces. Add them yourself: CONCAT(A1," ",B1).
  • Older Excel uses CONCATENATE or the & sign.

Works in

CONCAT needs Excel 2019 or later. The & sign works in every version.
